This original painting brings together all nine of Ireland’s native dog breeds in one group composition: the Irish Wolfhound, Irish Setter, Irish Red & White Setter, Irish Water Spaniel, Irish Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Glen of Imaal Terrier, and Kerry Beagle.
I’ve painted them with careful attention to their individual characteristics and expressions. The piece reflects the variety and shared heritage of these Irish dogs, known as “madra” in Irish.
